Book Review: Tripping Over the Truth

Cancer has been on my mind a lot in recent years.

I've had close family members and friends directly impacted by this disease.

Background

If there is one thing we know for sure, it's that the frequency of cancer occurring around us has increased substantially compared to previous generations.

Is our environment causing this?

Is it our diet?

What about genetics?

We thought it was "red meat", now we know it wasn't.

The real "cause" of cancer still eludes scientists after decades and billions in research.

Scientists developed the "theory" that "genetic mutation" causes cancer early in the 20th century, and billions have been spent in pursuit of "proving" this theory.

We are now in 2017, and the "theory" remains a "theory": the scientific evidence points to the fact that genetics are unlikely to be the "cause" of cancer: 2 identical cells with identical cancers end up with completely different and random genetic mutations. How can that be?

Is there something else which is causing the cancer AND causing the genetic mutation?

The Book: Tripping Over the Truth (the theory of cancer as a metabolic disease)

This is what this book discusses in a very "reader-friendly" manner:

  • What all the research over the decades has taught us
  • What are the various scientific theories behind cancer causes
  • If it's not genetics, than what does cause cancer?
  • How a theory from 100 years ago ("metabolic theory of cancer") was cast aside, only to be brought back in the past 10 years as new technological innovation is providing evidence that it was correct?
  • Why are cancer rates increasing? Is this linked to the "metabolic theory of cancer"?
  • How can we change our lifestyle to reduce risk of cancer?
  • How can we adapt treatment to improve survival chances and reduce the chances of reoccurrence?

In Conclusion / Recommendation

Much of the "lifestyle" advice in this book is in line with that I've been writing about and talking about on my blog and Youtube channel

And yes, all of what I've been talking about myself is also based on the latest research.

But having it all summarised in an easy to read book for people not interested in reading the research itself helps us reach the people that matter the most: our friends, families, and loved ones.

I highly recommend that you pick up this book and gift it to others.
